Building Resilience Case Study

Building a Culture of Wellbeing and Resilience at Flutter

Equipping People Managers with the skills, confidence and practical tools to prevent burnout and build resilient, high-performing teams

Since 2021, POINT3 Wellbeing has partnered with Flutter to build a culture of wellbeing and resilience across their international teams – supporting leaders to perform at their best while protecting people from burnout.

Sarah Rose, People Experience Manager, Flutter International said:

We partner with POINT3 to develop and deliver a series of workshops, training courses and experiences aimed at supporting the wellbeing of our people – helping them be as resilient and high performing as can be.

Their approach and training is extremely flexible and they are happy to take a brief and design a course that meets specific departmental and/or organisational needs. And the feedback has been really positive with average impact scores of 9/10 across the board.

Supporting People Managers to Build Resilient Teams and Prevent Burnout

Since August 2025, we’ve been rolling out a monthly Building Resilience workshop to people managers, with the following objectives and results.

By Numbers:

  • 70+ managers trained
  • 6 cohorts delivered
  • NPS 69
  • +2.7 increase in knowledge
  • 100% felt more confident supporting burnout
  • 9.1/10 recommendation score

The Objectives:

Like many global organisations navigating rapid change, hybrid working and sustained performance pressure, Flutter recognises the increasing demands placed on People Managers to support both performance and wellbeing within their teams.

The objectives of the training were to:

  • Raise participants’ knowledge of burnout
  • Build personal and team resilience
  • Provide practical tools and techniques
  • Increase confidence in supporting others

Our Approach:

The training blends behavioural science, real-life leadership scenarios and practical tools – ensuring managers leave not just informed, but equipped and confident to take action immediately.

The programme was initially piloted with HR Business Partners and People Managers. Following a 9/10 average recommendation score, it was rolled out as a monthly programme delivered over two 2-hour sessions.

70+ managers have completed the course with high levels of participation, discussion and peer learning.

Managers consistently highlighted the value of:

  • Sharing experiences with peers
  • Taking time out to reflect
  • Learning in a safe, open environment

The Impact:

Andy Ogden, DEI Specialist, Flutter International said:

We have worked with POINT3 across a number of programmes and they have become a valued partner in supporting our Inclusion activity.

In a fast-moving and constantly changing industry, it is important that we equip our people for success, and POINT3 have played an important role in helping us do that.

At Flutter International, they have delivered our Building Resilience workshops for people managers across multiple countries.

We are very pleased with the feedback from participants, who gave the workshops an overall NPS of 69, alongside strong motivation and value scores.

The programme continues to deliver strong, measurable impact across knowledge, confidence and behaviour change:

Increased Knowledge & Confidence:

  • +2.7 increase in burnout knowledge (pre: 5.5 → post: 8.2)
  • +2.6 increase in confidence supporting burnout (pre: 5.3 → post: 7.9)

Strong Behavioural Shifts:

  • 92% reported increased understanding of burnout
  • 92% felt more equipped to prevent burnout
  • 100% felt more confident supporting someone experiencing burnout

High Engagement & Recommendation:

  • 8.7 / 10 average training value score
  • 9.1 / 10 likelihood to recommend
  • 8.8 / 10 motivation to build personal resilience

This data demonstrates a significant shift not just in awareness, but in managers’ ability to take confident, preventative action.

What Managers Said:

“Usually I find workshops not that useful, but this one was brilliant. Everything shared was very useful and easy to apply.”

“This training was so timely… it has provided tools and knowledge that can be applied to every area of life.”

“Well-structured training with real-life examples and hands-on activities… highly valuable.”

“Even collaborating with other managers… was so reassuring.”

Key Takeaways & Behaviour Change:

Managers left the programme with the confidence and capability to:

  • Recognise early signs of burnout with confidence
  • Have open, human conversations with their teams
  • Focus on what they can control
  • Use simple techniques to manage stress (e.g. breathing, movement, reset moments)
  • Prioritise self-care to role model healthy behaviours

Embedding Connection in Teams:

A consistent and powerful theme throughout the training is the role of connection as a critical, and often overlooked, preventative tool for burnout.

As part of the programme, managers co-created ideas to strengthen team connection, including:

  • Regular non-work check-ins and informal conversations
  • Weekly or bi-weekly 1:1s focused on wellbeing
  • Creating space for personal sharing in team meetings
  • Celebrating achievements (big and small)
  • Increasing in-person or social interaction where possible

These actions reflect a shift from reactive to proactive wellbeing leadership.

The Outcome:

The programme successfully supported Flutter to:

  • Enable sustainable high performance
  • Reduce risk of burnout-related absence
  • Create more engaged, connected teams
  • Build more confident, capable people managers
  • Embed practical, human leadership behaviours

Together, we’re helping Flutter create a culture where people feel supported, perform at their best and sustainably thrive.

Nicky and Sarah are the two most professional, authentic and credible leadership facilitators I have ever experienced.
