Here are some of our favourite “I will” healthy habits to support your work / productivity:
I will…
- Spend 3 minutes identifying options to bring new ways to work / be productive into my life (and action at least one a week!)
- Make my bed… setting the intention for the day
- Write my to-do list
- Just Do It (JDI). To avoid the small tasks building up use “JDI” to tick things instantly off the to do list.
- Write down all of the things that might distract me from the task in hand
- Turn off my phone / put my phone into “do not disturb” mode
- Work with just one application open
- Close my emails down
- Tidy my workspace surface
- Write down one thing that’s great about today
- Celebrate my achievements
- Celebrate colleagues’ achievements
- Read at least 2 pages of “that book”
- Shut down my laptop for 15 minutes at lunch
- Take a 5 minute walk outside (the office)
- Turn off social media
- Take a nap (26 minutes is optimum according to NASA!)
- Set an alarm for the finish of my “working day”
- Write down my 5 actions for tomorrow
- Drink a glass of water (dehydration is a major cause of loss of focus)
Remember, we’ve kept them purposely small. The key to forming a sustainable healthy habit is to get started and by keeping the habit as easy and as quick to do, you set yourself up for long-term success. The more you successfully maintain your habit, the easier it will become AND THEN, it will naturally build from there!
