Week Five – Food for Thought

Food for Thought

Welcome to week five of the 12 week programme.

Week six is all about food for mind, body and soul. Ask yourself this… how often do you really think about how what you eat and drink affects your mental, physical and emotionally wellbeing?

Up to 90% of serotonin – the “happy chemical” is produced in the gut. Try to minimise the amount of processed foods in your diet and keep your natural food choices varied and colourful. Feed the tummy right and it will help to keep your head happy.

There’s plenty of evidence to show that food and wellbeing are closely linked. In fact, studies show that up to 90% of serotonin, or the “happy chemical” as it’s sometimes known, is produced in the gut.

Nutritional therapist, Clarissa Lenherr, says a good diet is crucial for maintaining our physical and mental health. As well as improving our gut health and blood sugar levels, getting the right balance of nutrients is important for our mood. The best way to improve our diets are by minimising the amount of processed foods we eat and keeping natural food choices varied and colourful. However, when we’re busy, eating well can sometimes fall by the wayside.

11 Minute Challenge

Week five of the 11 minute challenge continues to lay the foundations for the next 12 weeks…

This week’s four exercises will work all the major muscle groups, whilst getting your heart rate up. Finish with 3 minutes of our guided relaxation to focus the mind and bring calm throughout the week. Try to build this short workout for mind and body into your plan at least 3 times this week.
