# POINT3 Wellbeing ## Posts - [The Power of Movement](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/the-power-of-movement/): Our bodies are designed to move, but many of us (too many of us) are insufficiently active or not active at all. At POINT3 Wellbeing, movement (along with mindfulness) is one of our foundational principles, as we believe in the power of movement to help improve our physical, mental and emotional health and wellbeing. Power of Movement At our HIIT+CHILL+CHAT mini-retreat on Saturday 24 November, our wellbeing theme was focused on movement. We invited Caitlin Limmer, founder of the Bearcat Running Club, and race director for the Cabbage Patch 10 and Turks Head 10 to speak about the power of movement, - [HIIT+CHILL+CHAT - November '18](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/hiitchillchat-november-18/): On Saturday (24 November) we held our monthly event – HIIT+CHILL+CHAT in Richmond – an experience incorporating movement, mindfulness and conversation around the theme of movement. And we all have a responsibility for the mental health of our loved ones. Despite growing awareness in, and days dedicated to, mental health is still clouded in mystery and stigma that results in 47% of people feeling uncomfortable talking about mental health issues like depression and anxiety at work (Mental Health at Work Report 2017 with YouGov). There is still much to do to remove the stigma that is associated with the subject of anxiety and depression, and to provide people with the tools and understanding that mental health is much like physical health; we - [HIIT+CHILL+CHAT - October '18](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/hiitchillchat-october-18/): On Saturday (20 October) we hosted our monthly HIIT+CHILL+CHAT mini-retreat in Richmond – our mind, body, soul experience incorporating movement, mindfulness and education, with the special theme of mental health. An over-excited child trying to tell us something? “Just take a breath”. A frustrated colleague at work? “Just take a breath.” A hysterical loved one? “Just take a breath”. So how exactly does “just taking a breath” bring about a sense of calm? And in the busyness of 21st century living are we in danger of under-utilising the one naturally occurring relaxation resource that is literally right under our noses? Back to the breath As both a passionate teacher and curious student of the - [Being Mindful at Work](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/being-mindful-at-work/): Sarah Yeats, Client Services Director, Sledge said: “We recently had the team from POINT3 Wellbeing come in to see us. Yet how much thought or attention do we give to the breath and how we breathe? Breath – a bridge between body and mind There is much that we can learn about our breath to optimise our wellbeing. Much of which is so simple, but could be the difference between a fight or flight reaction to a highly stressful situation and a more thoughtful response to the same situation. I’ve had plenty of time now to reflect on the experience – the ups and downs, and the highs and lows – physically, mentally and emotionally. The greatest realisation and respect I have is for the mind, and the role it plays in endurance challenges like this. Physical fitness is of course fundamental, it’s what gets you to the start line, but it’s mental fitness that gets you - [Wellbeing at West Thames College](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/wellbeing-at-west-thames-college/): Judith Summerfield, Senior Staff Development Administrator, West Thames College said: “I recently organised a Wellbeing Day for our staff which POINT3 Wellbeing supported with their Mind Massage and HIIT + CHILL session. And yet, across organisations, we continue to see gaps – between values and behaviour, strategy and culture, knowledge and action. That gap between knowledge and behaviour is where inclusive leadership becomes critical. In a world of growing complexity, workforce diversity and on-going uncertainty, inclusive leadership is not a “nice to have” capability. It is a core component of human leadership – and the key to unlocking the performance, engagement and innovation organisations are seeking. Inclusion is not comfortable One of the least discussed, but most important, truths about - [A Look-In: Values and Vulnerability](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/a-look-in-values-and-vulnerability/): A POINT3 Journal by Sarah Mayo, October 2025 My word for 2025 is Courage. Little did I know back in January, just how relevant this word was going to be for me this year. And my word for October is Vulnerability… These words act as an additional compass to help guide me, over and above my values. And as Brené Brown’s work shows us, Courage and Vulnerability go hand-in-hand… which is just as well, as this post is about me leaning into both words to share a little about what I’ve been grappling with behind the scenes this year. Leaning - [Lessons in Human Leadership from the Front Line](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/lessons-in-human-leadership-from-the-front-line/): Reflecting on Season 3 of POINT3’s Walk The Talk Podcast Series As we prepare to launch the next series of Walk The Talk this September, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the voices, stories and insights that made the last season so meaningful. This series featured senior leaders and wellbeing champions who are navigating the complexities of hybrid work, cultural change, and leadership with heart. Together, we explored what it really means to walk the talk when it comes to wellbeing, leadership and purpose in today’s complex and uncertain world. From shifting cultures to designing inclusive systems, here are - [Human Leadership: The Antidote to Broken Servant Leadership](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/human-leadership-the-antidote-to-broken-servant-leadership/): Human Leadership versus Servant Leadership At POINT3, we talk a lot about Human Leadership – a leadership style rooted in self-awareness, emotional intelligence and care for both self and others. At the heart of human leadership is the ability to connect on a human level. Leaders who are open, approachable, and genuinely interested in their teams’ experiences foster deeper trust and loyalty. Engagement and wellbeing follow, along with performance and business results.  But in a world where traditional leadership models are increasingly under pressure, where does that leave popular concepts like servant leadership? It rather surprised me when she turned to me and asked: “Does this feel like work for you?”. Given what I do for work, of course the question was a valid one. However, my honest answer was “No! This is fun :)” … and yet as the evening progressed, I realised this was every bit as much “work” as it was “play”. A large part of the evening was spent - [Time to Talk Day 2025](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/time-to-talk-day-2025/): Continuing the Conversation with our MHFA Community… For this year’s Time to Talk Day we hosted an “MHFA Meet-Up” to allow a space for our Mental Health First Aider community to come together to talk about their role, the power of human connections and practical ways to keep important conversations going… We love hosting these regular MHFA Meet-Ups and reconnecting with our MHFAiders. Ironically, it’s these uncertain times that are central to our purpose and training objectives: Supporting people, teams and organisations to be as healthy and high performing as they can be – amidst uncertainty, chaos and change… We continue to be so grateful for the opportunity to work with so many different businesses – of all shapes and sizes and sectors – all with a similar passion for supporting the - [The Importance of Human Leadership Skills in 2025](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/the-importance-of-human-leadership-skills-in-2025/): Human skills are important to cultivate at any time, but they feel particularly relevant and critical now than ever before.  Loneliness is at epidemic levels in society and burnout is rising in the workplace.  Beyond that, so much is in flux. From the ups and downs of politics, ongoing wars, economic and social inequality, the changing nature of work, and transformations being driven by AI, it is essential that we recognise what it means to be human and how to harness humanity to be able to thrive at a time when our very survival feels like it is being threatened. - [A Look-In: October 2024](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/looking-inwards-in-october-by-sarah/): A POINT3 Journal by Sarah Mayo, October 2024 So, it’s now my turn to put metaphorical pen to paper to share my “look inwards” four months on from when Nicky shared hers back in June. As I stare at the blank screen, I close my eyes, take a deep breath and reflect inwards… What word first springs to mind?  It’s ‘flow’… now let’s see how this flows from here 😉 I’ve been writing a workshop over the last couple of weeks for a session I’m delivering for a new client of ours. And ‘flow’ is something that I will be - [Time to prioritise mental health in the workplace...](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/time-to-prioritise-mental-health-in-the-workplace/): World Mental Health Day 2024 On Thursday 10 October, it is World Mental Health Day (WMHD) – and this year’s theme is “it is time to prioritise mental health in the workplace”. There’s an honest irony then, to the fact that we almost de-prioritised this post – because it felt like “one too many things” this week… The truth is, there will always be “one too many things” on our to-do lists – so choosing what we do prioritise takes conscious assessment, choice and effort. And we wholeheartedly, passionately believe that choosing to prioritise mental health in our workplaces is - [MHFA Meet-up: September 2024](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/mhfa-meet-up-september-2024/): Time to make mental health a priority in the workplace As part of our Mental Health First Aider training, we invite our MHFA community to our free quarterly MHFA “Meet-Ups” which give them the chance to share challenges and best practices with each other, learning from other businesses, as well as networking with peers. Between us we have over 45 collective years of experience across marketing, events, business development and client servicing and now an additional 15 collective years’ experience in the corporate mental health and wellbeing space. We start most of our training sessions and our POINT3 meetings with this question. It acts as an ice-breaker and sets the scene in terms of the safe space that we aim to create amongst the people we train but also amongst our team here at POINT3.  The exercise also conveys a simple but powerful message about emotions. That they are data (as described by Susan David in Emotional Agility). Emotions are internal messages to ourselves that we would be wise to listen to. This - [International Women's Day](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/international-womens-day/): Celebrating the Women behind POINT3 Wellbeing Our vision at POINT3 is a world where discrimination is extinct – where everyone has an equal opportunity to fulfil their human potential and purpose.  And this is why we are passionate about championing women, every day, but in particular today on International Women’s Day (8 March). By emphasising mental health – and how it impacts how we think, feel and behave – we can not only create a healthier work environment - [Recognising the Importance of Mental Health in the Workplace](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/recognising-the-importance-of-mental-health-in-the-workplace/): Mental health is often seen as a taboo topic in the workplace. However, it is becoming increasingly recognised as an important issue that needs to be addressed. In this blog post, we will explore the importance of mental health in the workplace and some ways in which HR managers can support employees. It is estimated that one in six people in the UK workplace will experience poor mental health each week. This means that there is a good chance that you know someone who is struggling with their mental health, even if you don’t realise it. In the workplace, poor - [Why Wellbeing Training for Employees is Essential for Success](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/why-wellbeing-training-for-employees-is-essential-for-success/): The wellbeing of employees is critical to the success of any organisation or business. An organisation’s culture, resources, productivity and ultimately its bottom line are all affected by this. This is especially true for mental wellbeing support for employees, as our mind is the main driving force behind everything we do in life. Thus, a company’s employees’ mental and physical health is more than just another HR matter. In fact, wellbeing training and support for employees is an essential foundation for the growth, stability, strength, and sustainability of a business. In order for any company or organisation to truly understand - [The case for mental health training in the workplace](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/the-case-for-mental-health-training-in-the-workplace/): So, why do we need mental health training anyway? POINT3S OF VIEW BY CO-FOUNDER NICKY MORGAN I spent 18 years working in the wonderful, hectic, exciting, dynamic, ever-changing world of events marketing. More often than not I strived on the stress and pressure that inevitably came with the job which has been cited – believe it or not! – as the 5th most stressful job in the world after the military + emergency services. I worked hard, long, electrifying hours. I manoeuvred through different roles in an agency I absolutely loved. I planned experiences for brilliant brands in incredible places. - [Guide to defining a wellbeing strategy](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/why-and-how-to-define-a-wellbeing-strategy/): The case for a mental health and wellbeing strategy As we emerge collectively from the pandemic – the hidden pandemic as some have referred to it – is that of mental ill health. Stress and burnout have reached record high levels, and as we settle into new ways of working and living – it’s time, if you haven’t already – to think about what interventions you as an organisation need to put into place to support your people, so that their wellbeing and employee experience is as positive as it can be. Simply speaking, mental health and wellbeing underpins how - [Small steps to big changes for mental health and wellbeing](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/small-steps-to-big-changes-for-mental-health-and-wellbeing/): Building healthy habits for mental health and wellbeing POINT3S OF VIEW BY CO-FOUNDER Sion Stansfield “You only know a good sailor in rough seas”  I find this metaphor for life to be so true and impactful. Rough seas are sadly something that at different points in our lives we will all face, whether that’s on a global scale or on an individual level, whether that’s in the workplace or in our home lives. So, what can we do to be the best version of ourselves, the sailor that is able to navigate choppy waters? Mental health impacts how we think, feel and behave – so it’s central to who we are, how we view the world and everything we do day-to-day, yet, it’s still a conversation that too few people are having regularly. And mental health in the most simplistic of terms has two sides – good mental health and poor mental health. In the same way as - [Connection - the antidote to loneliness](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/connection-the-antidote-to-loneliness/): The role and importance of the workplace as a source of connection POINT3s of View by co-founder Nicky Morgan If ever there was a time to dial up our connections with our friends, families, colleagues, local communities and wider species – it feels very much like now.  As the world continues to be hit with crisis and confusion, the hope that I hold on to is our innate ability as human beings to want to – and need to – positively connect with each other. It is after all, ultimately how we’ve got to the top of the food chain - [POINT3 INSIGHTS 2022](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/point3-wellbeing-predictions-2022/): The Future Fit Of Workplace Wellbeing in 2022 and beyond Are you future fit? And in most cases, the underlying cause of common mental ill health conditions is stress. April is Stress Awareness Month, so it’s an opportunity to raise - [Is your workplace psychologically safe?](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/psychological-safety/): Unpacking Psychological Safety By Sarah Mayo Two questions to start… Have you heard of the term psychological safety?  And if you have, is it a term that is discussed and modelled at a senior level in your organisation?  If you haven’t come across the term psychological safety before, a good place to start is to give it a definition. Amy C. Edmonson, a professor at Harvard Business School and author of a book about leadership (The Fearless Organisation, 2018) says that… “Psychological safety is a belief that one will not be punished or humiliated for speaking up with ideas, questions, - [Moving from Burnout to Burning Bright](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/moving-from-burnout-to-burning-bright-in-2021/): Workplace Burnout A recent study by Gallup* reveals that 76% of employees experience burnout on the job at least sometimes. That’s over three-quarters of people experiencing chronic stress, as a result of work.  But what actually is burnout?  Whilst burnout isn’t yet defined as an illness that doctors can diagnose,  it is a syndrome acknowledged and defined by the World Health Organisation. The state of being burned out can be described as “becoming exhausted by making excessive demands on energy, strength, or resources”.*  Or in the words of Emily and Amelia Nagoski, co-authors of Burnout**: “Burnout is for anyone who - [POINT3 INSIGHTS 2021](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/point3-wellbeing-predictions-the-future-fit-of-workplace-wellbeing/): The Future Fit Of Workplace Wellbeing How workplace wellbeing is evolving. We are working and living in extraordinary times and we as individuals and teams in the workplace are being stress-tested to the max, and will continue to be so. If the global pandemic has taught business leaders anything, it’s the need to be ready and “future fit” for times of great disruption, potential crisis and continual change. I like to feel like I’m achieving, and that often comes down to giving each task that I’m working on a greater sense of purpose, and therefore motivating me further to achieve it. I like to use goals to frame my mindset for that period in my life. I really do struggle mentally and emotionally if I don’t know want I’m working towards. For me I always struggled with ‘why’ I would simply get up and go - [My 2020 Vision by Nicky Morgan](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/my-2020-vision-by-nicky-morgan/): Goals. I’m going to say it, I don’t really like the word.  Goals make me think of something big, brash, looming, intimidating… tantalising and always slightly out of reach. I don’t know when it happened, but my mind links the word “goal” with pressure, pain and struggle. If I set a “goal” and I don’t achieve it – I feel rubbish… which isn’t very sporting of me, but it’s the truth. This, of course is my very, very personal perspective. But it raises the point that even the language we use to help us head towards our dreams can be - [My 2020 Vision by Sarah Mayo](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/my-2020-vision-by-sarah-mayo/): Happy new year/decade! And welcome to the twenties, a decade with a name, joy!  I like this time of year. Not because of the weather, or the post-festive fatigue; I like this time of year because it’s an opportunity to get back into my routines. Routines are important for me. As much as they might sound mundane or worthy, routines give structure to a life that can otherwise feel overwhelming or in control of me. You’re likely fed up with all the talk of goals and resolutions. Often too much focus is placed on setting long term goals at this - [18 months young...](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/18-months-young/): 18 months ago (June 2018) we officially set off on our mission to help people “stress less and smile more”. Honestly speaking, we didn’t really know what that would look like, and we certainly couldn’t have envisioned where we would be today (December 2020). But we were clear on one thing… and that was that we wanted to focus on helping people to manage their overall mental, physical and emotional health and wellbeing better – by finding a better balance between stress and happiness, and work and life. Over the past 18 months, we’ve tried and tested many different things, - [WELLBEING AND WHY IT MATTERS IN THE WORKPLACE](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/wellbeing-and-why-it-matters-in-the-workplace/): On Wednesday 9 October, TRO hosted a panel discussion in collaboration with POINT3 Wellbeing, exploring mental health and wellbeing in the workplace in support of World Mental Health Day. The theme of this year’s Mental Health Awareness Day was suicide and suicide prevention. Every year close to 800,000 people globally take their own life and there are many more who attempt suicide (Samaritans Suicide Statistics Report, 2019). Every suicide is a tragedy that affects families, communities and has long-lasting effects on the people left behind. With stats indicating that the role of the event planner has consistently been voted 6th - [Money Matters](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/money-matters/): Life’s Riches by Nicky Morgan Starting a new business – for the first time – brings with it many new experiences; coming up with a name for the business, registering the business, selling your first product (the joy!) and (almost certainly at first), not taking a monthly salary. In early 2018, my two colleagues and I set out on our start-up adventure. Our pledge to each other was to bring enough personal money along to support our individual financial situations for a year. After that, we would need to be able to see a financial return from the business to - [Burn Brightly](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/burn-brightly/): Managing our energy, and our performance by Sion Stansfield How do we achieve amazing performance more often than not? The right balance of energy will allow us to think, feel and act at our best, maximising our performance in life. Understanding how we make that energy and how we burn it – having this awareness – will ensure that we have the energy to thrive with all that life throws at us. It has taken me many years to start to truly appreciate how our energy and thus performance is affected by every aspect of life. Not simply by how - [Goal Setting in Edinburgh](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/goal-setting-in-edinburgh/): Katharine Millar, HR Manager Delta Energy and Environment said: “POINT3 Wellbeing recently delivered a thought-provoking goal setting workshop which was timed to coincide with our end of year performance reviews. “It gave staff the permission to think about their lives beyond work and to set some meaningful goals for the year ahead that would make a difference to their overall sense of wellbeing. This, combined - [Wellbeing for Dentists](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/wellbeing-for-dentists/): Amanda Morris-Steele, Managing Director, Just Watch Events Ltd said: “We advised our client to open their inaugural conference with a wellbeing session from POINT3, although this was different from the usual expectancy of a business update, the delegates had a great start to the day! The session from Sion and Sarah allowed everyone to begin the day with a different mindset, valuable take-aways and an excitement of what else was to come. The live environment offers a truly unique opportunity for people to meet, learn and be inspired as well as build lasting relationships. The same is of course true at the industry’s own events – when the great and the good come out to celebrate each other’s successes and be inspired by conversations and serendipitous meetings with others. These events not only offer an opportunity to - [Mental Health Awareness at Lonely Planet](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/mental-health-awareness-at-lonely-planet/): LUCY MINIHAN, HR EMEA, LONELY PLANET SAID: “POINT3 delivered a really engaging talk to our staff during Mental Health Awareness Week. How to move more pain free with Kieran Lowe We recently caught up with Kieran Lowe, an osteopath and sports rehabilitator to discuss when movement interrupts mindfulness. Kieran has been working within healthcare for over 14 years supporting elite and amateur level athletes in the UK and abroad. More recently Kieran has been working with ergonomic specialists based within a range of office based locations across London. With this Kieran treats a range of people, sporty or not, with the aim of managing pain in the short term, but ensuring his patients know how to prevent - [Thrive not Survive](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/thrive-not-survive/): WANT, BELIEVE, THRIVE by Sarah Mayo As I sit here with the task of writing a blog on stepping out of your comfort zone, I’m inspired by the words of Napoleon Hill who said “Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” Just writing and reading these words gives me that excited but slightly anxious feeling in my tummy. It makes me think about those dreams that I want to achieve in life, and the potential discomfort, disappointment and challenge that lies between me and those dreams. How do the words of Napoleon Hill make you - [Meaningful Connections](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/meaningful-connections/): Community Matters by Nicky Morgan Whenever I come to write a blog there’s always a funny circumstance that occurs which helps to get my story started. Today it’s been WIFI, or as it turns out, a lack of WIFI. Today I’ve been working from home – something I tend to do a couple of times a week – I’ve been immersed in proposal writing and ticking off the to do list. I live alone and pet free so often my (blooming) loyal house plant is all the company that I have for the best part of a day. Unless, as - [Meaningful Tech Connections - Part 1](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/meaningful-tech-connections-part-1/): Are we empowered or enslaved by technology? by Sion Stansfield In this blog I could have focused on the wider conversation around digital wellbeing; the stats that tell of our addiction to our devices, the fact we are more connected but seemingly more lonely, than ever before. With so much already out there I wanted to instead tell a personal story… from someone who knows how empowering digital tech can be, but who is still trying to find a balance with it to ensure it is a positive force rather than a negative one. So this is my journey with - [More More Naturally - Part 1](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/more-more-naturally-part-1/): Stand up and take notice by Sarah Mayo Sit up… in fact, stand up and take notice… we’re told it’s dangerous to sit for six or more hours a day, yet everything about our lives is designed and tailored to encourage us to be sedentary for really long periods of time… whether it’s our largely desk-based jobs, driving to work, commuting on the train or bus, or simply relaxing at home in front of the television. Take a moment now to have a think about your typical day. How much of it do you spend sitting? Be honest with yourself. - [Wakey Wakey](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/wakey-wakey/): Productivity by Nicky Morgan So here’s an irony. I am writing this blog post on “productivity” at 3.15pm on a Friday afternoon – the week after I got back from a week’s holiday. My productivity levels this week, safe to say, have been a little all over the place. But with a commitment to share this before COB, I will endeavour to finish the week on a productivity high… According to a recent study of 7,000 people published in the Harvard Business Review, the 7 skills that are adopted by the top 10% of “super productive” people are: It strikes - [Care for the carers](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/care-for-the-carers/): NATALIA PHILLIPS, RICHMOND BOROUGH MIND CHARITY SAID: “We are extremely thankful to POINT3 for the talk they recently delivered to our carers. The feedback I got from the carers and staff in attendance was very positive. The talk was insightful and as some carers stated, reminded them to look after themselves, while highlighting the importance of both exercise and self-care for overall health and wellbeing.” You can find out more about our talks + workshops by visiting here. - [Move More Mindfully for Mind, Body, Soul - Part 2](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/move-more-mindfully-for-mind-body-soul-part-2/): Every Breath Counts by Nicky Morgan “Mindfulness” as a practice came onto my radar in the mid-noughties. My mum cut an article out of a magazine for me to read – (so safe to say this “mindfulness” thing was going mainstream) – as she thought it could be helpful for me. Mindfulness was apparently a useful tool to help manage anxiety – something I had been a slave to for a while. I went on an 8 week course which started with me staring at a raisin…and ended in a day of silence. For those of you who have been - [BEING MINDFUL WITH JOHN LEWIS](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/being-mindful-with-john-lewis/): LEXI FINNIGAN, PARTNER & COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER, JOHN LEWIS & PARTNERS SAID: “What an amazing introduction into wellbeing from the team at POINT3. The month of May is National Walking Month, so it feels appropriate to walk - [Wellbeing out of the shadows, into Digital Shadows](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/wellbeing-out-of-the-shadows-into-digital-shadows/): Sophie Burke, HR Business Partner, Digital Shadows said: “POINT3 recently supported our Employee Appreciation Day with their STRETCH+CHILL workout. Motivation is derived from the word motive which is defined as a need that requires satisfaction. These needs could also be wants or desires that are acquired through influence of culture, society, lifestyle, etc. or generally innate.” Everyday we have between, it’s believed, 60,000-80,000 thoughts. Thousands of little seeds that fly through our mind, many gone in an instant. But every now and again one of those thought seeds takes root. We water it a little to see if it is going to - [Offsite with Danone Leadership](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/offsite-with-danone-leadership/): Nora Iskandar, HR Director Dairy, Danone said: “POINT3 supported our leadership team on a recent away day by delivering a facilitated workshop followed by an energising workout. I’m sure that when faced with this question, you’re likely to say the first is true – you eat to live. But when life gets busy and we feel the pressures of time, and the other micro-stressors that life throws our way, we might not think so clearly about what we are eating and how important food is for our mind, body and soul. Like many aspects of human behaviour, there are many factors that affect our food choices, including genetics. But in the - [100 Day Move More Mindfully Challenge](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/100-day-move-more-mindfully-challenge/): Join us from Friday 1 February on our 100 Day Move More Mindfully Challenge when we set ourselves the goal of moving more and being more mindful every day for 100 days straight… Why movement and mindfulness? The simple acts of regular movement, and regular mindfulness are scientifically proven to make us happier and healthier, more focused and productive… It’s well known that when we move, our body releases chemicals known as the happy hormones – endorphins, dopamine, and serotonin, not to mention all the other physiological benefits of movement. And there’s heaps of research to show how the practice - [HIIT+CHILL+CHAT - January 2019](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/hiitchillchat-january-19/): On Saturday (12 January) we held our first HIIT+CHILL+CHAT mini-retreat event of the year in Richmond. An event focused on nourishing the mind, body and soul, through movement, mindfulness and nutrition. Movement, Mindfulness and Nutrition… for mind, body soul. Our event began with a fun, interactive 45-minute HIIT workout aimed at raising the heart rate, while working all the major muscle groups, to build strength and burn fat. As with all of our workouts, we follow the cool down by bringing the heart rate down, and taking the mind on a wonderful 30-minute relaxing mindfulness experience. Our event finished with - [Being More Mindful with BSkyB](https://point3wellbeing.com/blog/being-more-mindful-with-bskyb/): Gary Marston, Creative Producer and Mental Health First Aider, BSkyB Ltd said: “I recently attended a workshop with the wonderful team POINT3. They specialise in providing a simple and sustainable approach to managing mental, physical and emotional health within the workplace. Something that particularly resonated with me during their workshop was their explanation of living in the moment & letting stressful thoughts of impending meetings/activities fall by the wayside. In layman’s terms – if you’re sat having a coffee, they encourage you to simply enjoy just sitting having that coffee. A new year brings with it a blank canvas, a fresh start, and an opportunity for new hopes and dreams to be realised. This inevitably leads to the tradition of setting new year’s resolutions. But new year’s resolutions sometimes get a bad rep – rightly or wrongly – and many of us choose not to set them, let alone go on to achieve them. But why is this? It was Napoleon Hill who once said, “Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”  But let’s face it, dreams aren’t always easy to follow. They can come with disappointments, failure and challenges which make them hard to stick to and follow. However, a positive attitude can have a massive impact on the way we view ourselves and our achievements.  Everyone has a different idea of what they want to achieve or do in life – be it at work, or at home. And - [Money Matters](https://point3wellbeing.com/money-matters/): Although money can never buy you happiness, it is a necessary part of life. A recent study by Every Day Health showed that more than half (52%) of people get stressed out about financial issues.  Being rich won’t bring you joy, but not having enough money can impact physical and mental health as well as your relationships.  Of course, having plenty of food, shelter and money to buy hygiene products is absolutely essential. But beyond this, those luxury ‘extras’ might be less important than we think. For those of us that do have extra cash squirrelled away, research shows that - ["Being" with Friends + Family](https://point3wellbeing.com/being-with-friends-family/): Relationships with family and friends are one of the most important ways we can stay connected. Unlike other parts of the world, many of us in the UK limit family time to holidays and special occasions, leaving less time to develop those bonds.  Lots of us apply mindfulness to our everyday lives, taking two or three minutes out to be calm, still and reflective. But true mindfulness isn’t just about meditation, it’s about being truly present in the moment – and that includes family time. In a world with so much going on, it’s easy to become distracted in just - [Meaningful Tech Connections](https://point3wellbeing.com/meaningful-tech-connections/): Creating a positive relationship with technology Easy access to technology can be a blessing, but it can also be a curse. In this modern, digital world we’re always contactable wherever we are, with different apps and people constantly vying for our attention. While it can help us to stay connected, it can also increase anxiety and reduce productivity. A recent study on smartphone addiction found that a whopping 60% of us feel too reliant on technology, with people spending an average of three and half hours a day on phones. What are the signs of technology addiction? If you find - [Community Matters](https://point3wellbeing.com/community-matters/): If staying healthy is top of your agenda, you’re probably keen to keep fit and eat well. But according to research by Vivek H. Murthy, former Surgeon General of the United States, isolation and loneliness pose a greater threat to our health than obesity, and their life shortening effects are comparable to smoking 15 cigarettes a day.  Sadly, it’s a real problem for many people living in the UK, with a 2016 study by the British Red Cross and Co-Op showing that more than nine million people in the UK say they always or often feel lonely. In 2018 the - [52 MINUTES + COUNTING](https://point3wellbeing.com/52-minutes-counting/): In our fast-paced world, we’re always looking for new ways to boost our productivity and performance. For many people, working flat out until we drop seems like the best solution. But in reality, the non-stop method is counter-productive and actually leads to less productivity. Break + Move Regularly Regular movement is essential for keeping the mind bright and active, with experts suggesting people get up every 52 minutes to maximise their performance. Whether it’s making a cup of tea or doing a plank, taking two minutes out is an essential part of your day.  During the working day our minds - [Sleep Better, Rest More](https://point3wellbeing.com/sleep-better-rest-more/): Anxiety, stress and a busy schedule aren’t just affecting our days – they’re also impacting our nights. A good night’s sleep is vital for our health and wellbeing, but many of us aren’t able to get as much as we need. Research shows that the average adult needs between seven and nine hours sleep every night, with some benefiting from short daytime naps. The clever people at NASA have actually worked out that the optimum nap time is 26 minutes, which has been proven to increase alertness by 54% and performance by 34%. However, sleep therapist Risa Gabrielle says lots - [Food for Thought](https://point3wellbeing.com/food-for-thought/): There’s plenty of evidence to show that food and wellbeing are closely linked. In fact, studies show that up to 90% of serotonin, or the “happy chemical” as it’s sometimes known, is produced in the gut. Nutritional therapist, Clarissa Lenherr, says a good diet is crucial for maintaining our physical and mental health. As well as improving our gut health and blood sugar levels, getting the right balance of nutrients is important for our mood. The best way to improve our diets are by minimising the amount of processed foods we eat and keeping natural food choices varied and colourful. - [Every breath counts](https://point3wellbeing.com/every-breath-counts/): Breathing. It sounds easy doesn’t it? After all, we do it every minute of the day. But mindful breathing is about more than staying alive. By being mindful or ‘present in the moment’ MRI studies show that you can actually shrink the amygdala, which is the part of the brain responsible for triggering the “fight or flight” panic response. At the same time, the pre-frontal cortex, which is associated with things like awareness, focus and decision-making, becomes thicker. The more you work out at the gym – the stronger your muscles grow – and the same is true for the - [Every step counts](https://point3wellbeing.com/every-step-counts/): Humans were designed to move. It’s good for our bodies, it’s good for our hearts and it’s fantastic for our mental health. But in our fast-paced world, we’re not moving nearly as much as we should be. According to the British Heart Foundation Physical Inactivity and Sedentary Behaviour Report 2017, 39% of adults in the UK don’t meet physical activity recommendations, and as many as 13 million people aren’t active at all.  Although exercise can reduce your risk of disease, depression and help to manage stress, we’ve phased it out of our lives through technology, easy transport and office jobs. - [Remembering your why](https://point3wellbeing.com/remembering-your-why/): No matter how positive we are, there will be days and weeks where life throws us unexpected challenges. It’s how we choose to respond to life’s hiccups that will help us to build our grit and resilience. Always remind yourself that it’s OK if things don’t go to plan every time. You just need to come back, centre yourself and remember why you started the journey. Getting your motivation mojo When it comes to meeting your goals, motivation is everything. It’s estimated that people have between 60,000 to 80,000 thoughts flying through their mind every day – many of which - [Goal Setting For Success](https://point3wellbeing.com/goal-setting-for-success/): Achieving ‘wellbeing’ isn’t a stagnant process, it requires personal growth and commitment. To make this a reality, it’s important that we set clear intentions that give us a real sense of purpose, clarity and focus. Many of us set these goals at the start of each year, because it feels like a new beginning. But whether you’re on a cabbage smoothie diet or becoming an organisational ninja at work, some goals can seem more ‘aspirational’ than achievable. Research shows that 80% of people give up on their new year’s resolutions within two months. After all, there’s a big difference between - [Our values](https://point3wellbeing.com/our-values/): Our values are the things we hold most important to us. They define who we are as people and as a business, how we work with our clients and partners, and the type of people and organisations we hope to attract to work with us. Wholehearted We put our heart and soul into everything we do. Trust + Respect The relationships we have with each other, our clients and the communities around us are anchored in trust and respect. Meaningful Connections Our hope is to be connected to and to connect as many people as possible through the power of - [Week Twelve - Thrive Not Survive](https://point3wellbeing.com/12weeks/thrive-not-survive/): We often limit our horizons for fear of failure (or success) but without taking ourselves outside of our comfort zone how will we really know what we're capable of achieving? Rock climb, go to a talk, take a new route into work. Broaden your horizon, open your mind and step out of your comfort zone. Surprise yourself and see how good it can make you feel… - [Week Eleven - Money Matters](https://point3wellbeing.com/12weeks/money-matters/): Money can't buy you happiness - but how you spend your money can. Studies show us that spending money on experiences, time with loved ones and ultimately "memories" that feed our passions and interests, will leave us with a lasting happiness legacy. Invest wisely! - [Feed your soul](https://point3wellbeing.com/crescendo-hub/feed-your-soul/): Learning new information or points of view is not only useful for our personal development, but research shows it can also improve our mental and emotional wellbeing too. Learning can boost self-confidence and self-esteem, help build a sense of purpose, and help us connect with others. - [Sit back + listen](https://point3wellbeing.com/crescendo-hub/sit-back-listen/): For over thousands of years, since the first cave paintings were discovered, telling stories has been one of our most fundamental communication methods. Our brains become more active when we tell and listen to stories... again a scientific fact. So, why not while away the commute or take some time out with one of our podcasts... and benefit from activating the brain, and learning something at the same time. - [For your eyes only](https://point3wellbeing.com/crescendo-hub/for-your-eyes-only/): Science shows that reading has so many valuable health benefits, including helping with depression, reducing stress, and the chances of developing Alzheimer's in later life. When we read, not only are we improving mental and emotional functions, such as memory and empathy, but research shows that it makes us feel better and more positive too! - [Your hub of wellbeing content](https://point3wellbeing.com/crescendo-hub/): Welcome to a new hub of content that we’re curating especially for you folks at Crescendo this June to help educate, motivate and energise you to put your wellbeing first so you’re happy, healthy and thriving at work and beyond. Remove the distractions and enjoy that time you have with them, being present and your full self. - [Week Nine - Meaningful Tech Connections](https://point3wellbeing.com/12weeks/week-nine-tech-connections/): Maybe don’t throw the phone away just yet, but consider setting daily limits on app usage and allowing at least 30 minutes of no-screen activity before bed, to help create head space for other things (including a good night’s sleep!). - [Week Eight - Community Matters](https://point3wellbeing.com/12weeks/week-eight-community/): Research suggests that individuals who feel a sense of security, belonging and trust in their community have better health. Take time this week to connect with others and reach out to that person you've been meaning to for a while. - [Week Seven - 52 Minutes + Counting](https://point3wellbeing.com/12weeks/week-seven-52-minutes/): It has been proven that the most productive people work for no more than 52 minutes before moving away from their desks. Set a timer then jump to your feet, make a cuppa, do a plank, move your body, awaken your mind and improve your performance. - [Week Six - Sleep Better, Rest More](https://point3wellbeing.com/12weeks/week-six-sleep-better/): Those clever people at NASA have worked out that the optimum nap time is 26 minutes - this has been proven to increase alertness by 54% and performance by 34%. What better excuse do you need for a nap?! - [Week Five - Food for Thought](https://point3wellbeing.com/12weeks/week-five-food-for-thought/): Up to 90% of serotonin - the “happy chemical” is produced in the gut. Try to minimise the amount of processed foods in your diet and keep your natural food choices varied and colourful. Feed the tummy right and it will help to keep your head happy. - [Week Four - Every Breath Counts](https://point3wellbeing.com/12weeks/week-four-every-breath-counts/): Mindfulness is the art of being in the moment, on purpose, without judgement. When we're in the moment we cannot be worrying about what has gone before or what is yet to come. Take time to really be present; during your movement sessions, cooking dinner, drinking your tea or even cleaning your teeth! Make mindfulness a daily practice however you can. - [WEEK THREE - Every step counts](https://point3wellbeing.com/12weeks/week-three/): Remember, walking little and often has many benefits. Build up your movement by increasing the steps you take. Ditch the car, get off the bus earlier, take the stairs and go collect that take-away! - [Week TWO - REMEMBERING YOUR WHY](https://point3wellbeing.com/12weeks/week-two/): We know not every day goes according to plan. There will be days and weeks where life throws us unexpected challenges. This is part of life - it's how we choose to respond that counts and helps to build our grit and resilience. If things don't go to plan with your programme, that's OK.
